If you’re running a web site, you may want to block login attempts from unauthorized IP addresses. You can do this by enabling IP Account Lock. Once you’ve enabled this feature, you can specify up to 5 static IP addresses that may access your account. You can also choose whether to enable or disable IP-based logins on individual pages and password protected directories.
Configure IP Account Lock
Once you have installed IP Account Lock, you will need to configure the security settings to secure the login IP address of your account. This feature can be configured per-user, and will allow you to choose which IP addresses can access your account. To do this, you must first check the IP address tick box for the user. Then, select the IP address in the IP Address table that the user should be IP locked from.
IP Account Lock is activated when the user repeatedly tries to log in using their incorrect credentials. It will remain in effect for 30 minutes. To remove the IP account lock, the user must go to the locked computer physically or have someone else there to do so.
Specify up to 5 static IP addresses that may access your account
You may use a static IP address to assign a specific IP address to certain devices. This is convenient for devices such as printers that have web management and can be configured from anywhere. Static IPs are a great way to make networking easier. Here are some reasons why you may want to do so.
Static IP addresses are more secure. Unlike dynamic ones, static ones will not change unless a user requests it. You can check whether the IP address you’re using is static or dynamic by using free websites.
Enable or disable automatic login via IP address on individual Pages and Password Protected Directories
Enabling or disabling automatic login via IP address is done in the Accounts feature. By default, the feature is enabled. You can also disable it site-wide. This option is available in the advanced settings. If you disable automatic login via IP address, visitors can login only from certain Account Login Groups.
Password-protected directories are a common way to restrict public access to your website. They require a password and username to access. Generally, these protected directories are placed under the document root directory of the domain. You can specify a name for the protected directory and optionally its subdirectories.
View login time of IAM users
When a user logs into IAM, a trace is left behind that records the IP address and the time of login. The CTS service provides an easy way to view this data. It also allows you to change a user’s permissions. You can change the permissions of any existing user or create a new one.
To view login time of IAM users, navigate to the IAM page and click “Credential report.” In the report, you can view the names of all users. You can also view the time since they last changed their password.
